Husband Rosendo Bargas New House built by Sierra Madre Congregational Church This family did not have anything. The husband Rosendo, works 7 days a week as a street vendor selling papayas. He was not even allowed to take the time off to be there when we were building his new home. He did leave several wonderful papayas behind as gifts for us. Modesta shared with us that she did not believe she was going to get a new house (even after the foundation was poured) until we showed up to build the latrine! She also told Pastor Hector that she had a life long dream of having her own home and a sewing machine so she could make clothes for her family. She had no way of knowing that one of our team members ministries was sewing and she was bringing a new pedal-powered sewing machine to Modesta. When Lisa showed up Saturday morning carrying a sewing machine, Modesta could not believe her eyes! She was going to have not only a new house and new latrine but her very own sewing machine. She quickly learned from Lisa and before the weekend was over they had made new curtains for the house but some new clothes for the kids! Our God is an awesome God! |
