UPDATE!

On April 20, 2001, we stopped by to visit Cirenia to see how she is doing.  She has done wonders with the house.  She excitedly invited us in to see the changes she had made. Let me tell you the house was immaculate!  Cirenia has really made this a beautiful home.  I have a new pictures below.

This was a very special trip!

On the weekend of October, 6-9, 2000, my friend and partner in Team Casa de Dios, Bob Allen and I planned on going to Mexico to begin the ground work for the two latrines we are going to complete later this month. (October Trip)

Normally, we go on Saturday morning and do the concrete work the same day.  However, this time we wanted to do some extra work on some houses in El Nino so we decided to go Friday night and cross the border with another group. (It makes it easier for Pastor Hector if we all cross at once.)  While stopping at the Home Depot in San Yasidro, Pastor Hector received a call  from Cheryl of Baja Christian Ministries.  She had bad news for the group waiting to cross the border and build a house.

She told Pastor Hector that the six contractors, with all of the building tools, could not make the trip.  Their truck had broken down on the way to Mexico and it could not be fixed easily.  Pastor Hector did not seem at all bothered by the significant problem.  He turn to Bob and me and said, "There is a big problem, and a big blessing!

Well, Bob and I knew that we were not going to do any latrine work now.  It would have to wait until next Saturday!

Pastor Hector told Bruce Beardwood, from Chino Hills Presbyterian and Ken Hays of Red Hill Lutheran of the problem and the possible solution - me and Bob.

Well, they agreed and off we went to build a house for the family!

A treat we did not expect. Cirenia and her friends feed the entire group lunch on Sunday!

God bless them!

God works in ways I can not understand, but I'm glad He made a way for us to work together with these great groups for His glory! I only hope and pray that Cirenia could see the heart of Jesus working in our team.
We thank the Lord for allowing us to join together do His work within His plan!
